I started Pillar Golf & Turf to help clubs elevate performance across their turf, teams, and operations.
With over a decade of experience at some of the region’s top clubs, including Ballyhack Golf Club and Kinloch Golf Club, I’ve built a reputation for delivering firm, fast playing conditions, efficient systems, and strong leadership. At Ballyhack, I led the agronomy team through major progress, earning the NGCOA Mid-Atlantic Sustainability Award and helping the course move into Golf Digest’s top five in Virginia.
My work is guided by five pillars:
Passion. People. Playability. Presentation. Profitability.
Through hands-on consulting, I help clubs improve turf health, adopt modern technology, and develop their teams. Every project is customized to meet the needs of the course and the people behind it.
If you’re looking for someone who understands the demands of high-level golf and brings real-world experience to the table, I’d love to connect.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work with Steven Ball in multiple capacities, including during his time as Director of Agronomy at Ballyhack Golf Club, where he was a user of TURF Insight alongside Toro GeoLink sprayers. Steven didn’t just adopt the technology—he pushed it, refined it, and used it in a demanding, real-world environment at an elite level. After founding Pillar Golf & Turf, Steven has continued to bring his depth of experience, knowledge, and perspective, serving as a trusted partner who bridges agronomic expertise with modern technology. That hands-on experience has been vital in helping TURF Insight better understand daily golf course operations, superintendent workflows, agronomic perspectives, and practical use cases for adopting new technology.”

“I have had the pleasure of working with Steven Ball over the past year. During this time, he has helped facilitate team-building initiatives, enhance agronomic programs, and introduce fresh, youthful ideas that we have incorporated into our Agronomy Department. I consider Steven wise beyond his years and a tremendous asset to have as a partner.”
